12 Week Old Baby Girl!
I've been receiving a lot of bookings lately from panicked parents fearing that they've left it too late to have newborn photos taken. With Lifestyle photography it doesn't matter how old your child is as Lifestyle is natural and of real moments of who you are now. I can always fix baby's skin rashes, etc. in Photoshop if need be.
Little baby Ida is absolutely adorable and at 12 weeks already has the most gorgeous personality and smile.

7 Week Old Baby Girl!
Isn't she absolutely adorable? At 7 weeks old little Olive was all smiles and an absolute delight. Okay I admit it, I still get really clucky when I meet newborns for the first time!!
Welcome Precious Newborn Baby Boy!
I had the pleasure of meeting another newborn baby boy last week! Welcome Joshua!
All babies have their own little sounds, movements and smiles that are all distinctive of who they are. Mum said that Joshua has the cutest pursed lips while making a little 'O' with his lips!
Natural and Real Newborn Photography
Oh baby Hugo, you are such a sweet baby! I love it when a session just comes together so naturally and I see the love of new parents for their newborn son!
I find that parents are loving the more natural type photos that show their newborn exactly as they were when they first arrive home. Newborns don't have a routine yet so I pretty much follow the baby's mood and their schedule. Don't worry if your baby is unsettled as there is no time limit, take all the time you need to settle your baby.
I very much enjoyed meeting his parents and hanging out with the three of them at their home. Thanks so much for all your help Richard! I hope you enjoy your preview.
Lifestyle Newborn Photo Shoot!
Winter's been the season of babies for me lately which I adore. To experience the love of a newborn baby, the scent, the skin folds, and the cuddles makes my heart melt!
Welcome little Ty, what a gorgeous name! You'll probably remember the preview of Yuri's maternity session a couple of months ago. Congratulations Yuri & Tim!

I was so honoured when Megan, a fellow photographer from www.megananne.com.au asked me to photograph this crazy, emotional, love-filled time in their life. Megan and Luke seemed to exude a sense of calmness despite the fast pace of a 2 year old and a newborn. Congratulations to you and your new family! I hope I managed to capture such a beautiful time in your lives.
Oh how I love Newborns!
Over the past 9 years I have photographed a lot of newborn babies and love getting to know each of them individually as we all know that every child we come across is VERY different and has different strengths that they utilize even as infants. Every yawn, smile and look was admired by his Mum & Dad. Okay, call me clucky but little Nathan is the most handsome boy!
Natural Lifestyle Newborn Photography - What is it?
There's blurred lines when it comes to explaining what Lifestyle photography is. Some would say it is Documentary where the photographer becomes a fly on the wall and photographs your normal day. To me Lifestyle is natural and real, with occasional prompts to help the clients know what to do.
For me, it is so beautiful and personal to photograph your newborn in their brand new home, to capture your baby photographed in their own nursery, to remember forever what that very first bedroom looked like. Those first wraps, hand knitted blankets and booties, their first teddy, all the things that you'll want to remember in years to come. To have them cuddled by you on your bed, a place where they'll never be quite this small again. Lifestyle to me is documenting you, your new family forever changed! It's emotions and love that you could never have imagined before.
Here's one adorable little guy and his parents!
Those sweet little baby details!

New Little Bundle of Joy!
A little bundle of joy has arrived, it's a girl! Such a pleasure to photograph this little angel and her parents, she's beautiful!
Why Maternity Photos are Important!
The Importance of Maternity Photos
Being pregnant can bring a lot of difficult trials but it's an amazing time in your life. It is a time of anticipation as you prepare to meet your little bundle of joy. It’s a time where you become strong – stronger than you ever thought you could possibly be. During this time, you create your initial bond with your child that will continue throughout your entire lives.
There are very few women who actually feel like they are beautiful while they are pregnant – especially during the first pregnancy. However, the miracle of pregnancy is a beautiful thing. Swollen feet, stretch marks, and hormone changes aside – you are growing a real live human being inside of you. All of those side effects come from different things your body has to do to help nourish and protect your baby.
You are beautiful, and you should take the time to celebrate these changes and this amazing moment in your life. These photos will be a great gift to pass down to your child as an heirloom of your first memories with them. This is something they can treasure forever.
I usually aim to take photos around the 32 week mark. I know what it feels like when your pregnant, conscious of your changing body shape but I photograph you in the most flattering poses.

What to do if Baby isn't Co-operating!
Newborns are a miracle and we want to show our new little bundle looking peaceful and relaxed when they have their first photos taken. We've all seen those photos of new little babies posed in baskets, boxes and all sorts of poses that just seem as though they are the perfect baby, cooperating with every photo you wish to get. Unfortunately this doesn't always happen and this is where lifestyle photography comes into play.
Crying is a natural, real emotion that all newborns have for most of their first few months of life. Embrace this moment in time. It won’t be long before you forget how their little forehead wrinkled up whenever they screamed, or how their toes would get all stretched out and tense when he was upset. Let me capture those little details. You want your photos to evoke real emotion and demonstrate the love you have for your child as you try to soothe them. These tender moments are just as important, if not more so, than the sleeping, posed photos.
A newborn photo session is to preserve those first memories of your newborn's life. Whilst posed photos can be cute, in years to come you're not going to look back and think wow, look how my baby was able to do this great pose! The memories you'll have will be you comforting your baby, humming a lullaby to settle them and them gazing into your eyes with amazement and love.
Big Brother
I have so many photos that I love from this session and couldn't resist sharing this of big brother's love for his new baby sister!

"You have the whole world in your hands"!
Forget to print your photos?
FORGET TO PRINT YOUR PHOTOS???
I’ve always loved photography going way back to using 35mm film. Remember when you were young and film was developed at the Chemist or local photo shop and how excited we were to pick up your photos and look at a printed photo? We couldn’t wait to put them in our photo albums and even now, how much we love looking back at our photos and the memories they share? The computer just doesn’t have the same effect. I believe photos you hold in your hands are so much more valuable than digital versions.
I’m just as bad, I keep telling myself that I must print my personal photos that are stuck on my hard drive on my computer. It’s so easy to think I must get around to it but the more you put off having them printed, they accumulate and it becomes a momentous task!
The digital age is here. The ability to share your photos with family all over the world is amazing. The scary part is that hard drives aren’t reliable and have parts that eventually fail, so what next? Technology is always changing and the devices that we use now will probably be redundant in years to come. Photographs gain value over time so it’s imperative that we print our photos now to make sure that we’ll have them to show for future generations.

I include prints in every package I offer. I’m all inclusive right now, so everyone gets digital photos on a USB drive, as well as 6 x 4” fine art archival prints of their selected photos. Archival paper is referred to as ‘Museum grade’, made of cotton and highly resistant to ageing and deterioration over time. Archival paper is acid free and lignin free, in other words the paper is less likely to yellow and deteriorate. Of course I also offer larger print sizes, fine art and coffee albums and mount boards all printed on archival photo paper.
Digital images are wonderful for sharing online but having a tangible print in a beautiful album is an heirloom to be handed down through the generations.
