Q & A
What is your style of newborn photography?
I suppose you’d call my style as natural and authentic, capturing the real emotive moments with your baby. In photographer terms you’d probably call my style ‘Lifestyle’. I don’t use props but prefer that your baby leads the way.
How do I book in when I don’t know when my baby will arrive?
It’s always a good idea to book your newborn session during your 20th week of pregnancy. I pencil your due date in my diary and leave room around that date for your session. All you have to do is contact me once the baby is born and we’ll then lock in a date and time. Don’t worry about having to have your newborn photo shoot within the first 10 days as I photograph ‘Lifestyle’ photography, a very natural form of photography where your baby leads the shoot. It also doesn’t matter either if your baby is awake or asleep. If you’ve already given birth and feel you’ve left it too late, please give me a call as I can always try to fit you in.
How long will the shoot be?
I have no time limit on how long your shoot will be. I allow time for you to feed your bubba, change a nappy if need be or they just need a cuddle from Mum and Dad. Shoots usually take between 2-3 hours.
Can you come to our home to photograph our family or do you have a studio?
I can either come to you or you can visit my studio in Highett, whatever is convenient for you. I fully understand what it’s like when you first arrive home, the thought of a photo shoot can be quite daunting with lack of sleep and trying to find some sort of normality.
I don’t have anything to wear?
Hey you’ve just had a baby so I’m not expecting you to be able to fit into your old clothes. With that, over lockdown I had a lovely time purchasing new neutral coloured dresses in a variety of sizes that mainly fall over your bump. Your baby can either wear a white onesie or I undress them down to their nappy and we wrap them in neutral coloured wraps and blankets from my selection for you to choose from. Dads can wear a neutral coloured shirt or t-shirt with beige, navy or black coloured pants or jeans are fine too.
Do you pose your clients?
I don’t pose as such, I only give gentle suggestions on where to stand and how to stand in the best possible light. I might also prompt my clients to cuddle or look at your baby as my aim is to capture the connection you have for each other but I then let you do your thing. If there’s a stray piece of hair covering someone’s face, I’ll always try to fix that for you too.
What if I have to reschedule my photo shoot?
Life happens, right? All sorts of things can crop up to not be able to be at your photo shoot - sickness, lockdown, weather or even last minute work responsibilities, I get it. Contact me at least 24 hours beforehand and we can work out another suitable day and time.
When and how will I receive my photos?
After your session I cull the best photos. From there I edit them individually to my own unique style. Upon completion I load them to a professional online proofing gallery approx. 1 week later and send you the link to view and choose your favourites. Once you’ve finalised your selection, let me know as I can see which photos you’ve chosen and I’ll then invoice you for the total number of images.
Is it only the digital files I receive?
Not only do you receive your chosen digital files in High Res format but you’ll also receive 7 x 5 inch Art Prints (1/2 A4 piece of paper) size. This is the perfect size for smaller frames or perhaps gifts for your relatives. Photos are huge files so I also supply condensed versions of each of your chosen images on your USB so to make it easier to email or use on social media. Print pricing upon request.
How does your pricing work?
Pricing is determined by the number of images you choose (15 min.) but you don’t need to stick to the actual package numbers. Example: If you choose 17 images it will be the ‘Seed’ package price plus two extra. Session Fee and GST all inclusive in the package prices. There are no additional hidden fees. Please contact me for further info or look at my Pricing Page on this website.
Do you offer any other products?
Yes I’m a huge believer that all your favourite photos need to be printed. I use a professional photo lab who uses professional paper stock to print your photos on with accurate colour calibration. I can organise any size print and also beautiful albums (my favourite). Contact me for a price list.
Do you only service Metro Melbourne?
Yes I only service Metro Melbourne but happy to travel if required, additional travel fees will apply.
Do you shoot weddings?
I do photograph the occasional small wedding. Contact me if you’d like to view some of my recent work or pricing enquiry.
