I frequently get asked questions from new parents about how a newborn photo shoot works. So I thought I’d share some info over the next couple of weeks about what to expect and answer any questions you might have.
So What is Lifestyle Newborn /Natural Baby-Led Photography?
It can be quite overwhelming choosing a newborn photographer to capture your precious little baby. Every photographer has their own unique style, so you need to look for a photographer that resonates with you and has lots of experience working with babies. There’s more traditional posed newborn photography that uses props but my style is what you’d call Lifestyle Newborn Photography, natural and baby-led, letting your baby take the lead. I’ll tell you where to stand or sit with guidance and photograph each family member with the baby.
Once we decide what neutral coloured wrap to use or plain onesie to wear, I place your baby on my beanbag in the most flattering window light. Baby-Led means just that, waiting for those little moves, yawns and stretches that are unique to them. More posed newborn photography focuses more on placing your baby in specific poses whilst they’re asleep. I prefer to capture the love and connection your whole family has for your baby.
