Having photographed their newborn baby boy a couple of years ago, I was thrilled to be invited back to photograph these lovely parents introducing their newborn twins, a baby boy and girl.
A lot of people say that it’s probably a bit of a challenge photographing twins but I see it exactly the same way I would photograph a baby on it’s own. With ‘Lifestyle Newborn Photography’ it doesn’t matter if it’s one, two or even three babies, the photo shoot will always be natural and baby led. All babies have their own individual personalities, so I watch for those tiny cues and movements, the stretches, the yawns, the way they place their hands, they’re all unique to each baby.
These beautiful twins were a delight to photograph. The little baby boy basically slept the whole way through the photo shoot and his baby sister was awake most of the time which was fine, as long as they’re both happy and content it doesn’t matter.
Twins instinctively settle much easier if they can feel each other close by. When one of the twins requires feeding, burping or comforting, I’ll photograph the other twin on their own to show their unique character and how they differ from the other twin. I try to get to know the babies, reading their cues to ensure a relaxed session.
It’s all about the emotional connection and love as a family that I love to capture.
