I receive lots of messages from parents that are worried that they have left it too late to organise a newborn photo shoot. Perhaps you need time to recover from a difficult birth or you’re still trying to understand your baby’s needs, whatever the reason, you do not have to worry about having your newborn photo shoot within the first 10 days from birth for more natural newborn photography.
I GET IT…I want your newborn session to be non stressful and relaxed and if it’s easier to have your newborn session later, then that’s what we’ll do. ‘Lifestyle’ photography is a very natural style of photography which can be held either in my home studio in Highett or I can visit you in the comfort of your own home.
An older newborn session is for babies aged between 4 - 8 weeks of age. Posed newborn photographers ask that they photograph your newborn within the first 10 days from birth due to the baby always sleeping and they’re able to place in certain posed positions.
Sometimes though, some parents prefer to wait until their baby is a little older to organise newborn photos. Older babies are more alert and awake, but less ‘curly’ than they were in the first two weeks of life. As your baby gets a little bit older they will start to recognise your voice and engage with you a little more. I love capturing those intimate natural moments between a baby and their parents when they react to their funny faces and voice, or crack a smile that only Mummy and Daddy can achieve.

So don’t worry if you’ve been told that it’s too late for newborn photography as with natural ‘Lifestyle’ photography it doesn’t matter what age your baby is. What’s important is that you capture those important baby milestones!
