There’s something truly special about photographing a family as they celebrate one of the biggest milestones of all… their baby turning one.
We decided to have the family photo shoot at their local park as their little boy visits there all the time with his parents and loves it. What I love most about natural family photography is how real it is as it allows families to just be. There’s no pressure to pose perfectly or hold still, it’s all about movement, play, connection, and those in-between moments that unfold when you simply let your family be themselves. I love to capture those in-between moments of curiosity especially when you have a one-year-old, you know the magic is going to happen quickly and often.
During this session, Mum and Dad cuddled, chased, tickled, and laughed their way through the afternoon with their little boy. We wandered through the park, letting him lead the way. He stopped to explore leaves, sat proudly in the grass like the big boy he’s suddenly become, and flashed that cheeky one-year-old grin that melts every parent’s heart.
These are the images that will mean even more as the years go by, the ones that freeze this fleeting stage where your baby is still so little, yet growing so quickly. Natural family photography lets your real story shine through… the way you hold him, the way he reaches for you, the way your love feels in this exact season.
If your little one is reaching a milestone soon and you'd love to capture it in a relaxed, authentic way, I’d love to create something beautiful for your family. Outdoor family sessions in Melbourne’s parks and bayside areas are one of my favourite ways to document these memories — full of warmth, playfulness and real connection.
Let’s celebrate your family, exactly as they are.
