Once I receive your booking I’ll send you my Welcome Booklet which gives advice on how to prepare for your newborn photo shoot. There are things we can do prior to and during the newborn photo shoot to keep your baby happy.
First up, try and feed your baby just before I arrive and make sure that they’re burped so as not to have tummy pains. Don’t worry if your baby is awake as I like to get some awake shots as well as when they’re asleep. I bring with me various neutral coloured swaddles which you can choose from, otherwise we can use some of your own. Another idea to sooth your baby is to wrap them though babies do vary on how tight they like to be swaddled. I watch for their individual movements so if they want to stretch that’s not a problem though sometimes a baby will prefer to be swaddled quite tight to sooth them.
It’s also a good idea to play white noise during the session. It’s more soothing for your baby to have it loud as they’re used to it from being in their mother’s womb. Warm up the room to about 28 deg. so when we undress them down to just their nappy they don’t get too distressed as they hate the cold.
Lastly I want to include all of the family in your newborn photo shoot. I get asked a lot if I include parents and siblings and yes I sure do. It’s so important that newborns be held and cuddled as it relaxes them. I want to capture the emotion you have for your newborn baby.
This beautiful little bubba is so loved. Congratulations to these new parents!
