After 9 long months of anticipation your baby has finally arrived. Babies grow and change so quickly, you’ll want to remember the early days from birth with a newborn photo shoot. If you prefer simple, pure and natural newborn photography, consider Lifestyle Newborn Photography.
This style is a very gentle and natural way to capture your newborn baby as it’s baby led. My aim is to capture the joy and connection you have for the arrival of your baby with each member of the family.
I’M HERE FOR YOU. I WANT TO MAKE YOUR NEWBORN PHOTO SHOOT AS STRESS FREE AND CALM AS POSSIBLE. I WANT YOU TO BE ABLE TO ENJOY THE WHOLE EXPERIENCE AND FOCUS ON THE JOY YOU FEEL WELCOMING THIS PRECIOUS NEW LIFE INTO YOUR FAMILY.
LET ME FIND THE BEST LIGHT IN YOUR HOME!
When I arrive at your home I will peruse each room to see which has the best available natural window light. Natural light is so flattering on skin tones not only for your baby but also you. This could be your loungeroom, parent’s bedroom or even the baby’s nursery. It’s not uncommon to stay in just one area of your home for the entire session if it has great lighting. You would be surprised at the beauty that can be captured in just a small corner with good natural light!
DON’T WORRY ABOUT CLEANING YOUR HOME!
I’ve been there, you’ve just given birth and your attention deserves to focus on your newborn baby and rest as much as possible, not worry about having a spotless home for when I arrive. I might suggest to move some furniture around and declutter tables but don’t worry about having a clean home.
NO PROPS!
Your baby is precious and perfect the way they are so I don’t use props such as baskets and boxes I’ll bring with me my beanbag and a selection of neutral coloured blankets, onesies, and wraps, that makes the focus of the shoot to be all about your baby. Though, if you have a sentimental prop that you’d like to include, by all means lets do it. Unlike other types of newborn photos, it doesn’t matter to me if the baby is awake or asleep. The baby will guide the session.
WHAT ABOUT SIBLINGS?
I usually try to photograph sibling photos at the beginning of the shoot since the sibling(s) may lose interest after time. There are no expectations and I will never force them into doing anything they aren't comfortable with. I have a number of poses that I use (dependent on the sibling (s) ages and will help guide them of what to do (hold your new baby, look at those little fingers, etc) and you will be there to support them and keep the baby safe. Sometimes there might be some sibling rivalry and it’s not safe for the sibling to be close to the baby, it really depends on their age.
Below are some photos of this brand new family of four! Little bubba did absolutely great for his session, mostly slept and peeked at us for a few photos. Big sister was an absolute delight, loved showing me her room and her new baby brother.
