I’m always looking for new ways to bring creativity into my mini portrait sessions, so I’m currently doing an online course with the wonderful Elizabeth Messina in The Art Society. Each month has a different theme and this month we’re exploring ‘Floral’.
I absolutely love having the opportunity to experiment with ideas, colours, textures and styling. It gets me thinking beyond the traditional portrait session and inspires me to create something a little different and unique for each person I photograph.
One of my favourite parts of portrait photography is working with the personality and individual style of each girl or woman. That’s why I have a client wardrobe available in my studio with a selection of different outfits that clients can try on during their session.
You don’t have to arrive knowing exactly what you want to wear. We can have a little fun trying different pieces and seeing what feels like you. Whether your style is soft and feminine, relaxed and boho, simple and classic, or a little more creative, we can find something that works with your personality and the look we’re creating.
Sometimes an outfit can be the starting point for the whole session.
Add some beautiful flowers, interesting textures, natural light and a little creativity, and suddenly we have something completely different from a standard portrait shoot.
That’s what I love about photography, there are always new ideas to explore.
My portrait sessions are about more than simply taking a nice photograph. They’re an opportunity to express yourself, have some fun, try something different and create images that feel personal to you.
So, whether you’re looking for a portrait session for yourself, a teen or tween photography session, or simply want to try something creative and different, I’d love to bring some of those new ideas into your session.
Who knows… perhaps flowers will be making an appearance!
